March 7th, 2017

We have had lots of fun today. We were all measured and weighed. Layla is the tallest and Katie is the smallest person in Polar Bear Class.

We had lots of fun participating in Yoga and playing different games. We showed our visitors how good we are at listening to instructions. We then talked about what makes you healthy and we came up with a list;

  • Eat healthy food e.g. fruit, vegetables, meat, fish
  • Drink healthy drinks e.g. milk and water
  • Exercising
  • Have 11 to 12 hours sleep
  • Brush our teeth
  • Good hygiene

World Book Day

March 6th, 2017

On Thursday afternoon, children from Rhino class came down to read with children from Polar Bears and Turtles. We were able to show the Rhino class how good we are at reading and showed them how we use our Fred fingers to sound out different words. They were very impressed!

On Friday, we all dressed up as a character from our favourite book. We had lots of fun and enjoyed guessing who everyone came as.

Pancake Day

March 6th, 2017

In Early Years we have been reading Mr Wolf’s Pancakes. We have been working very hard writing lists for Mrs Manning of the ingredients we need to make pancakes.  We used our fred fingers and sounded out all words.

We all then took turns making the pancakes mixture with Miss Lister, Mrs Whitley and Mrs Abel.

We all then watched Mrs Whitley make the pancakes and put our favourite toppings on them. They were delicious. We had a fantastic day!

Toothbrushing time in Early Years

November 8th, 2016

This morning we had a very special visitor, Viv. She came in to talk to us about our teeth and how it is very important to look after them. We all worked very hard answering lots of questions and did some really good listening. We even had the chance to pretend to be a dentist and look into each other’s mouths.

Everybody needs to remember to brush their teeth in the morning and at night time before bed.

In Early Years, we have had lots of fun learning about Diwali. We have read The story of Rama and Sita and we have watched videos of  a girl preparing and celebrating Diwali with her family. Two children in Early Years very kindly  brought in some Diwali treats for everybody to try. They were very yummy!

Early years have loved exploring the leaves that have fallen from the trees around school this week. We worked together to collect the leaves using the wheelbarrows and brushes. We then enjoyed throwing leaves up in the air and seeing how high they would go and letting them fall back onto our heads. Some children even made ‘leaf angels’ in the leaves.

Harvest in early years !

October 13th, 2016

This week we have been learning all about harvest.

We have learnt some harvest songs. Including the harvest samba, one world and big red combined harvester. What is your favourite harvest song?

For our harvest we will be performing the song of Dingle Dangle Scrawcrow. Can you sing it to your grown ups?

In preperation for our performance we have been making wrist bands to pretend to be a scarecrow. We used one handed tools and practised our cutting skills.

See you all tommorow (Friday the 14th October) at 2.30pm for our harvest celebration.

Our new dragon classroom !

September 26th, 2016

In early years we have transformed our learning environment using the theme of dragons and fantasy.

We have been making knights using a range of different skills, including: using a hole punch, cutting carefully and holding scissors correctly and joining using split pins. Lots of children worked really hard and persisted, even when they found it a little tricky and they were successful in making a puppet knight! Well Done !

We have been reading dragon stories in our castle tent.

Cannon Hall Farm

July 20th, 2016

On Monday, we went to Cannon Hall Farm. The sun was shining and we were all very excited.

When we arrived at Cannon Hall Farm, we were met by Andy. He showed us around the farm and the different animals. We really enjoyed looking at the piglets, but they were a bit smelly.

Andy gave us some food so we could feed the animals. We made sure that we shared the food equally between them all.

We also had the chance to stroke some smaller animals. We met a rabbit called Chewey and a guniea pig called Peanut.

Polar Bear class were very lucky and were able to go on a tractor ride. It was very bumpy but we had lots of fun.

We also saw a baby Alpaca that had just been born. This was very exciting!

We watched the farmer milk 2 cows.

We finished the day off in the playground and the inside play gym. We had so much fun and would love to go back to Canon Hall Farm. We have wrote thank you letters to Andy and are going to post them this week.
